The meteorological department is calling on Kenyans to be on the lookout following strong winds in parts of Nairobi, Kirinyaga, Thika, and Syokimau. The winds caused power outages, destroyed trees and forced motorists to park by the roadside, in some of these areas. Reports indicate strong winds were also felt in Arusha and Rwanda.
The met department said the winds were emanating from the Indian Ocean. According to David Koros a principal meteorologist with the meteorological department who spoke to Citizen TV these are wind gusts that are experienced during sunny days.
